Aaaaand just like that it’s December 31st. What in the what? HOW?! Where did 2019 go?! If you’re like us, this past year has absolutely flown by. Did you accomplish everything you set out to? Was 2019 an up year or a down one? Helix House is thriving, better than ever and we’re looking to keep that going into the future (because seriously, 2020?! That’s some Blade Runner stuff right there). Want to join us in making 2020 the best year yet? Here are five New Year's Resolutions that you can implement today. They range from simple mindset changes or new email standards to bigger system changes, but all of them will help you make this your best year yet!

Nurture Leads Better

We wrote a whole blog on this coming up soon, so keep your eyes peeled for that. For now, briefly: create a better nurture process for all leads, not just those blazing hot ones. This can be a huge overhaul of systems and mindsets but the results will speak for themselves and net you better conversions on your marketing dollars. Speaking of dollars…

Manage the Cash Flow More Effectively

No matter how good you think you’re doing, there are areas that could use some fine tuning. Excessive tools/software/extras that creep up monthly overhead. Fluctuating payments, both incoming and outgoing. Whatever the reason, if your business has had drastic fluctuations in cash flow in the last year, or maybe you’re not as strong of a financial mind, there are plenty of reasons to decide that 2020 is the year that one of your resolutions is to get the books in order.

Set Realistic Goals

Just like your personal resolutions, setting realistic goals is a crucial way to make sure you’re able to actually make progress. Too lofty and you might not be able to see any gains made.  Don’t think you have to set one goal for the whole year either! You can start small, ‘We want to grow the business by X in the first quarter’ is perfectly fine, but once you reach that keep adjusting. Goal setting in and of itself is a great habit to develop that will help your business grow. In fact…

Make Business Planning a Regular Event

Here’s a secret to our success at Helix House: constant iteration. Both for ourselves and our clients, we need to constantly take stock of where we are, what we tried, what worked and what didn’t. It’s the nature of the digital new media space, but that has bled over to all aspects of our business. We look at everything. ‘Last quarter we took in these three clients. What has worked for us and them and why? Can we bring that to our other clients?’ Here at Helix we do this kind of assessment weekly! You can leverage this approach to your own business and get great results. Make a set time each week to look back, gauge what’s working, and what steps you need to take going forward. It can make a world of difference.

Communicate Better

Communication is critical, of course!  Whether it's interacting with other members of your team or replying to customers and client requests. Think quality over quantity. What all do you need right now to make the next thing happen? Send a message and outline it all, and the next steps. Setting up a meeting? Including the time is great but why not also include whatever materials or prep work should be done ahead of time in the same email. By making each email, comment, message, or notification worthwhile, you can be sure everything is working as efficiently as it can and nothing is being missed. This doesn't mean every email or note needs to be a novel of course. The clearer and more comprehensive the communication, the better 2020 will be!
