A year ago, if you had asked any of us if bots were coming for our jobs, we probably would have told you, “Yeah eventually, maybe? Probably not though… right?”  Well, in the last six months the prevalence of easily availablel AI has begun to completely change the game. We talked about the present and our future before but it’s already time to revisit the topic – that’s how fast this corner is advancing. AI is a useful tool, so how do you leverage it intelligently, strategically, and effectively?

Before we go any further – No, this blog wasn’t written by an AI. But it was written by a human writer leveraging AI tools to make something fast, efficient, and quality. We’re going to focus on ChatGPT for this feature as that’s widely in use as a content writing tool.

6 Actionable Tips for Leveraging ChatGPT for Writing Content

That’s what you’re here for right? How best to jumpstart your content generating game? Here are 6 tips that can help you get the most out of ChatGPT and it’s capabilities.

1 - Define Your Topic and Objectives

Before you even crack open ChatGPT, have a clear goal and topic in mind. Know what the objective of the piece is. This will help you frame your prompts to produce the most relevant, useful bits of content.

2 - Choose the Right Prompt

ChatGPT can generate responses based on a variety of prompts, including questions, statements, and keywords. It's important to choose the right prompt type that aligns with your objectives and the type of content you want to generate. Prompts is like, 85% of the whole thing. You need to know how to ask for what you want. That means framing the question, specifying the desired outcome, and any other side factors.

You can also do what’s called Prompt Priming, giving ChatGPT a

Here’s a handy guide found on reddit.

3  - Refine Your Prompts

To get the most accurate and useful responses, it's important to refine your prompts and questions. By breaking down complex questions into smaller, more specific prompts or providing additional contex, you help ChatGPT better understand what you're looking for, and deliver on it.

4- Use Different Prompt Variations

Look back at that chart shared earlier. Use a variety of these to get a more robust, complex response. Get different angles to develop a fuller picture of what you’re asking for. You don’t want to shoot from the hip and go with ChatGPT’s first response.

5- Edit and Refine Generated Content

This is the biggest part. In keeping with not using the first response from ChatGPT, you want to make sure you’re editing and refining any content generated by AI tools. While ChatGPT can generate content quickly and efficiently, it also makes some of the most boring, dry content you’ve ever read. That’s the importance of prompting and refining.

It is also absolutely necessary to review it for accuracy, relevancy, and competency. Even better? Take the bulk of what ChatGPT provided to you and use it as a guide for your own work. Copy and pasting from ChatGPT is a surefire way to end up with some dull content that doesn’t match your brand voice.

6 - ChatGPT Is a Tool, Not a Replacement

Use ChatGPT to generate ideas and insights, but ultimately rely on your own judgment and expertise to produce high-quality content. Using ChatGPT to produce a batch of 15 headlines is a great exercise to begin your own brainstorming, but you shouldn’t use a single one without any building on it. ChatGPT can be a researching assistant, a brainstorm machine, but it isn’t a copywriter any more than Midjourney is a designer.

By following these six steps, you can make the most of ChatGPT to generate content that is relevant, accurate, and effective in achieving your objectives. Remember that ChatGPT is a tool to support your writing, not a substitute for your own expertise and creativity. Use it wisely and your productivity can be boosted— but used sloppily, and it doesn’t matter how many words are on the page; the performance will suffer. These are our tips today – because truly who knows how things will change in the next few months. But take advantage of the tech while it’s here and working for you!

Disclaimer:  Remember that ChatGPT is an open source tool, be smart, and play it safe with what kind of information you feed it.
